Susie Cagle is a staff writer and illustrator at Grist. She’s also currently working with a team of reporters and students on a community media project about gun violence in Oakland, Calif.

Susie has written and drawn for the Atlantic, the Guardian, the Nation, Boston Review, Truthout, Campus Progress, the Awl, the Hairpin, the Rumpus, Cartoon Movement, McSweeney’s, and many others. Her work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, BoingBoing, and others, and she’s received honors from Society of Professional Journalists and the International Women’s Media Foundation. Susie has a masters in journalism from Columbia, which still doesn’t offer a cartooning class.
