I was excited to wake up this morning to my piece “Appropriart!” — on Boing Boing! Back in August I researched, wrote and drew this piece for the Grantmakers in the Arts reader (with production help from the awesome Yolanda Hippensteele at the Media Democracy Fund). It’s nice to see it now has an online home — click through for the full thing.

I’ve spent a bit of time this week at Occupy Oakland, and I’m putting together a painted piece over the next few days, so stay tuned for that too.

I have some illustrations in the latest Longshot Magazine that hit the internet this weekend, but this piece didn’t make it. Kind of a bummer, but I was still happy to spend the afternoon with “Uncle Ralph.” Extras to come from this — I tried to squeeze it onto one print page, which wasn’t nearly enough.

I’ve just returned from two weeks in France, and there is so much blogging to catch up on. I did a short interview with the Seattle Times’ Seattle Sketcher columnist Gabi Campanario — Gabi’s work is really lovely, and I hope to see more jobs like this at other traditional media properties in the US. (I saw quite a bit of it in France, ahem.)

I’ve got five new comics lined up for the upcoming weeks, including a report on my trip with Cartooning for Peace, but for now perhaps you can sate yourselves with this follow-up to my Education in For-Profit Education — the Incredible Shrinking Pell Grant.
